Chips, Star Rise and Resonance in Dark War: Survival
The chip system rewards patience in a way that is easy to misread. Levelling your favourite chip feels productive, but the number most players are actually chasing — Resonance — is set by the weakest chip in the set. Understanding that one rule changes how you spend every chip copy.
Stars and Star Rise checkpoints
A chip climbs through ten stars: five in the orange tier, then five in the red tier. Each star is not a single payment — it is a set of Star Rise checkpoints, each costing copies of that same chip. Later stars add more checkpoints and each checkpoint costs more, which is why the last few stars dominate the total.
| Star | Tier | Checkpoints | Chip copies |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1★ | Orange | 1 | 1 |
| 2★ | Orange | 2 | 2 |
| 3★ | Orange | 3 + 3 | 6 |
| 4★ | Orange | 5 + 5 | 10 |
| 5★ | Orange | 10 + 10 | 20 |
| 6★ | Red | 12 + 12 + 12 | 36 |
| 7★ | Red | 15 + 15 + 15 | 45 |
| 8★ | Red | 20 + 20 + 20 | 60 |
| 9★ | Red | 30 + 30 + 30 + 30 | 120 |
| 10★ | Red | 50 + 50 + 50 + 50 | 200 |
| 0 → 10★ | — | — | 500 |
What a maxed set really costs
One chip taken to 10 stars is 500 copies of that chip. Since 800 Advanced Chip Material crafts a chip, that is 400,000 Advanced Chip Material per chip, or 1,600,000 for a complete four-chip set. Those figures are worth internalising before you decide a maxed set is a near-term goal.
Resonance follows your weakest chip
Resonance reads the four installed chips and takes the lowest star level. A set of 8★, 8★, 8★ and 3★ resonates at the 3★ level; the three high chips contribute their own stats but nothing to Resonance. If Resonance is your target, the only useful upgrade is the one at the bottom of the set.
Frequently asked questions
- How many chips does it take to max one chip in Dark War: Survival?
- Taking a single chip from 0 to 10 stars costs 500 copies of that chip across every Star Rise checkpoint.
- How does Resonance work?
- Resonance is derived from the four installed chips and matches the lowest star level in the set. Pushing one chip far ahead of the others raises that chip's own stats but does not raise Resonance.
- How much Advanced Chip Material is a maxed chip worth?
- 800 Advanced Chip Material crafts one chip, so a maxed single chip is worth 400,000 Advanced Chip Material and a full four-chip set is 1,600,000.
- Should I spread chips evenly or focus one?
- For Resonance you must raise the lowest chip, so an even spread is what moves that number. For raw troop stats, focusing the chip that matches your role is stronger. Most players raise the set evenly to a target Resonance, then specialise.
